Will this be Delaney's final year?

Haha. Like Bobby Hauck too. Delaney seems to be doing a fine or better job. 10-3 ranks right up there with top UM seasons. UM is lucky to have had both Delaney and Hauck. Of course, no one can live up to the high expectations of someone who equates excellence as being a really big big mouth on the internet.

If we didn't have a head coach we would go 8-4 in the BSC, the big fluffy lives up to its moniker every year come playoff time.

The Big Sky got more teams in the playoffs than any other conference. Yes, 3 of teams faltered early, but the selections still shows that the conference is generally strong and gets alot of respect from the playoff committee.

The selection shows the quality of the morons in the committee. Nothing more

Yep, falter. Good choice of words. Describes the last two years of Griz football, as well as Delaney.

Mick will be the head coach in 2015 and this time, and quite possibly will be offered a three-year deal before the Wyoming game. BOOK IT

Wow!!! Mick could sign a three year deal AND then quite possibly go 0-2 against Wyoming and NDSU....kind of a buzzkill don't you think

He's only staying to make sure he gets the 3 year-higher-salary-average to boost his retirement check.

I think you have hit the nail on the head here. I am sure that Delaney never made much money during his many years as an assistant coach. So, he is looking at these higher salary years as a boost to his retirement funds. Plus, another reason is that he failed miserably as a head coach at Western, and now has the chance he never got (nor deserved) to be the head coach of a real program. I think he loves being in the limelight. So, in reality, his selfish interests are being appeased at the expense of our football program. If he REALLY cared about the UM program, he would stop being delusional about the great job he is doing, and retire.

We'll see if that continues after last year's drubbings. Complete embarrassment.

We'll we all did take some pretty big 401k hits a few years back. Maybe MD is just trying to recoup a little?

Yeah after his 2 years at Western he spent the next 15 at an FBS school that he left fully vested in the Colorado state retirement program (and making a higher salary than he is making now.)

He is also vested in two separate Montana retirement systems. He's not coaching to pad his retirement. Nor did he need to step down to coach at Montana for any other reason than he wanted to come "home" and loved the game.

Adding up all of those may total to a sum he is comfortable with. And unlike many states, Montana taxes pensions as earned income. More is always better.

The first 3600/mo will be exempt, but yes more is better.
