Heerrrrreeee kitty, kitty, kitty

Why doesn't Vasques see more playing time? He can score a three and rebound and guard. In this game, with Beasley not like his usual self, it might have made a difference. Oh, well, it could have been much worse.

I look forward to the game in Missoula. If the GRIZ shoot anywhere near a normal percentage they win this game going way.

…how is bannon not coached to follow his shot…

… :wtf: …

How did he get rid of that beautiful shot at the end of last year, putting it up at the waist, grade school.

Costly turnovers and missed free throws down the stretch. Hard to get too upset about it considering we got another shot at them next month, we’ve been spoiled winning 19 of the last 20, and this the oldest and most experienced team the cats have had in a long while. I have no doubt in my mind we’ll shoot the ball better in Missoula. We seem to always struggle scoring in Bozeman.

18 I think.

Ok your right there but relate that to no inside game, please.

It was 19; it’s now 19 of the last 21.

I just don’t think the lack of a monster post was the difference. The GRIZ had more boards, and although I haven’t looked it wouldn’t surprise me if they had more shots in the paint. The issue tonight was shooting 30%. Just not going to win on the road doing that no matter how big you are.

The next two games will tell us everything we need to know about this year's Griz team. SUU and PSU might be the sleepers in the conference. When the Griz see the tapes of this game and correct the errors, I think they will roll over MSU in Missoula. UM is still in a good position to take the BSC.

Not sure that is entirely correct. If they lose to SUU at home = bad and if they win at PSU = good. Winning at home and losing on the road are par for the course and shouldn't be overly concerning.

Griz getting good looks but just pulling the string on shots inside the lane. Everything is front iron.

The Wooden quote, "Be quick but don't hurry" still rings true. Guys looked in a panic on many 2nd half attempts.

I agree with all the above. Who knows why players start "pulling the string" in winnable games? Can't blame the coaches. I checked the 2nd half shot chart: Nine (9) missed shots in the low-post paint (five of them layups)... all open looks. No problems with low post offense... just the conversions. Overall Montana played a solid game, especially on defense and rebounding. The best thing to take away from this game, is what the players' faces reflected at the final buzzer. I think these kids looked like they believe they let an opportunity slip past them. How they respond, especially vs SUU, will have an impact on this team. P.S. That lone Griz loss to the Cats (1-of the last 19)? That was a carbon-copy 78-69 final seconds collapse that Ahmaad, Michael, Bobby, Fabijan, Jack, Brandon, Sayeed and Walter suffered when they were mainly sophomores. They turned out OK. I guess we'll see how these kids rebound from this.

Griz give up 66, so defense is not a huge problem. Griz score 59, it appears that offense/shooting is an unresolved problem. Get out-rebounded by Weber State. Something has to change.

Hats off to D Sprinkle, he crafted a very solid game plan against the Griz. By pushing out the defense on the perimeter and clogging the passing lanes he made our shooters hesitant. When that happens and we’re not making 3’s the defense collapses and consequently we have higher number of turnovers on the inside. I’d much rather have Beasley shooting 3’s than Josh Brannon.
The one player who I feel who is starting to feel more comfortable on the court is Carter-Hollingsworth. He’s still a little tentative but he’s now playing with more confidence and shooting better. I feel by the last third of conference play he should be a force to be reckoned with.
Still mystified by Vasquez’s lack of court time. He can be deadly from 3 and he plays solid defense.
How can you not love Mac Andersen? He plays as hard if not harder than anyone on the floor. Yes, he’s foul prone and he has problems scoring but he shows up every night and plays his heart out.
Martin has yet to live up to his press clippings but I think his time will come. At least I hope so. He was supposed to be our 3 Pt. specialist.
We didn’t play up to our potential but not to take anything away from the cats. With Belio in the middle he can make penetration tough.
That’s my assessment and I have to live with it.

Good post Sport. so - get a really good Griz guard to penetrate and beat the aggressive sCat defense, :thumb:

Like Cam? He's our best penetrator who can also dish the assists. And he was the high scorer tonight.

Never a good loss, I don't care how it is framed. The Griz looked physically outclassed by an athletically superior team. Size matters and Mack, DCH, Bannan etc. were out muscled by Adamu, Belo, Abdul, Osobor and Tynes. The game in Missoula will favor the Cats unless the Griz get tougher between now and then.
