2016 Griz Football Recruiting (38)- 20 Verbals/ 8 Transfers/ 10 Walk-Ons & 3 Offers

Cost of attendance is going to be a huge issue for FCS schools, not only for football but for every single sport.

More TV video on the Valentino Daltoso front (OL Boise, ID)...

http://www.ktvb.com/story/sports/high-school/football/2015/08/19/boise-high-school-football-2015/31964875/

Daltoso is interviewed in this one. A summary, as it pertains to other threads on egriz:
- Doesn't interview like a "nasty" sort of kid that some eGriz posters believe that the Griz are missing on the OLine
- Talks about their "hurry up" offense and how being in shape wears the defense down which would seemingly refute troll based "Hurry -Up Offense Will Gas Our O=Line" style threads

In looking for Ben Vering and the Capital summary (not out yet) I found this video from Meridian High School, the same league as Capital and Boise.

( Many moments pass as I tried to snip single image out of video but failed to load in "state of the art" bulletin board service http://www.egriz.com/grizboard/posting.php?mode=smilies&f=1# ). 3 year starting OLineman/DLineman in a Montana Football Camp T-shirt. Colton Smillie. 6'2" and 246. While smallish, he, on the other hand, looks like he might be nasty http://www.egriz.com/grizboard/posting.php?mode=smilies&f=1#.

Video here with Smillie kid up front: http://www.ktvb.com/story/sports/high-school/2015/08/12/meridian-high-school-football-2015/31563751/

More later. Go Griz!

Who is that kid? Juco?

According to his HUDL profile he's a 6'2", 200 lb outside lineback from Butler CC (The Grizzlies, ironically)

According to Rivals.com he's a 2 star out of HS:

Ht:6'2"
Wt:200 lbs
40:4.64 secs
Bench Max:275
Squat Max:390
Vertical:32 inches
Class:2014 (High School)

Check him out at Hutchinson Community College. He is on their roster and not on the Butler CC roster.

Ben Vering and Capital (Boise) Football pre-season video here:

http://www.ktvb.com/videos/sports/high-school/football/2015/08/20/5a-football-preview-capital-eagles/32091209/

Vering appears at the :49 mark. He does not look like he is participating in the practice so again, wondering if he is injured and if so, how long is he out for.

That should be all from SW Idaho for now. If I hear anything else on potential Griz recruits I will share.

Can't wait for football to finally get started. Go Griz!!!

Might have to look again at the offer sheet! It's entirely possible that some are "good" football players rather than "great." We wouldn't want to be out of scholarships prematurely. :?

This last game opened the USA s eyes to Griz Football. I think a flood of kids are going to think about a rocking WA Griz ,a Mad Scientists Coach, getting lots of wins and more NFL looks. The 2 NC s are big for Griz football but this last game could have gave a huge shoot in the arm. Maybe the single most important game ever. This game was a big win win.

I hope that the kids who really popped out to them stay on their radar, some kids now will swing our way with the win over NDSU, but some will see the narrow victory and the Bison will use that to sell the idea of coming there to ensure continued and renewed success. This win gives us a little room for selection, but honestly the gains will be few and far as far as talent.

I think the NDSU game did more to gain exposure to the rabid fan base and fun offense that Stitt runs than anything since winning the national championship has done. I got a call on Sunday from the father of a kid from Boulder Creek H.S. in Arizona (where McKinley came from) who watched the game with his son, who the Griz are already recruiting. He and his son loved Stitt's offense (the kid is an O-lineman, 6'5" 265, and a great athlete). I think we are a long shot to get him, because several FBS schools are sniffing around him, but the NDSU game certainly didn't hurt our chances. By the way, NDSU is recruiting him too. They recruit Phoenix very hard.

Almost 1 million college football hungry fans watched the Griz take down the bison. More people watched the UM game than people watched the Yankees playing at the same time!

Coach Stitt said this game will help recruiting, and already has (Gavin Crowe). He said they are being contacted by kids from states that UM has never been contacted by before!

And these new kids asking to be Griz don't even know about the new academic center, and the major up-coming construction of the huge, state of the art weight room and locker room.

GRIZ FOOTBALL IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE :!: :!: :!:
