As far as laziness is concerned, it is kind of funny how NDSU brought more fans to the national championship game last year, estimated around 18,000, than the combined attendance of UM's last national championship game in 2009, which was around 14,000. Wonder if UM had such a poor showing due to the expectation that had been established at that point of UM not performing well in the national championship game.

Yes, because one team and fan base had less than a week to get travel arrangements halfway across the country figured out while another team and fan base had the luxury of a month to get all that shit figured out. So for Montana to send 13,000 fans to the NC game (Because Villanova literally only brought 1,000) in only a weeks time says a lot about this fan base.

It's kind of funny how NDSU could only bring 18,000 fans to the national championship game when they had a month to prepare while Montana could only manage 13,000 with 5 days to prepare... :roll:

NDSU only managed 18k because the stadium only holds 21k and Illinois state was allowed 2,800. Essentially NDSU fans purchased every single available ticket. That is remarkably impressive. Maybe if UM fans weren't so lazy in 2009, they would have been making travel plans well in advance of the national championship game like the vast majority of NDSU fans did.

Call it what you want, but in the past 25 years, the national championship games UM has played in, outside of Marshall in their house, have been very poorly attended.

Coming from a fan of a program who couldn't even beat NDSU when they were a marginally good D2 team and have fewer championships, 2 compared to 4 at NDSU, despite being playoff eligible for 30 more years than NDSU. UM is kind of like Notre Dame. Program that was once good and now been passed by everyone else.
