New Scoreboard and Sound System

I wonder how much Learfield gets from the ad revenue. I wonder if people would pay an extra $2 or whatever a ticket to get rid of the ads entirely.

I'm okay with it...whatever revenue the ads generate doesn't have to come from ticket prices. I have free will to ignore the ads.

I ignore the ads. I focus on the game, and the great GRIZ we have on the field. :thumb:
I thought you were talking to yourself and then I realized you are (maybe?) 2 different posters. I thought you were just bipolar for all these years

I've done a few double takes too with his posts. A few people have confused us. :thumb:

Since it's Learfield's board, it will feature non-stop ads... awesome. Is there another cfb stadium in the country with more ads, promos and billboards than WA-Griz?

Every single other Learfield school. It's the same in Laramie.

F*** Learfield.
Yeah screw Learfield! Its just that kind of rampant commercialism that will destroy the NCAA (which brings us the Taxslayer Bowl, the Outback Bowl, the Russell Athletic Bowl, the GoDaddy Bowl, the Foster Farms Bowl, the Belk Bowl, the Quick Lane Bowl...) How dare Learfield take advantage of the hapless U of M AD's office and force their money into the pockets of the school. Shameful really. The government needs to fund the whole thing to get business out of the picture! Outrageous I say.

Oh give me a break. UM is getting bent over by Learfield.

The installation will also lower the screen to where the current amber-lit scoreboard is "so it will be a lot better viewing angle

Anyone know if this means the old scoreboard is history?

I was able to golf with Haslam in Great Falls and he said that it would be large enough to replace the old scoreboard and the ads along side of it. The scoreboard will be in the same "place" on the new board

Cool, thanks for the update! I'm pretty excited to see it. I saw it's 14 foot wider, but it must be a decent amount taller as well.

They have mockups of it now. Saw them on Twitter but I'm not cool enough to post. Looks pretty sweet.

Sweet, and than it seems depending on how accurate this scale is..that immediatly to the right of the coca cola advertisement the new champions facility will star???? that side is pretty much boxed in at this point it would appear??? MORE NOISE!!!!!!

There isn't a rendering of the Grizzly Champions Center looking from the field, but at this angle it does indeed box in that corner. :thumb:

I think the new board is going to be a great addition but I can tell you one thing; with the wider board, they will use the middle of the screen for game video and the sides of the board for non-stop advertising. If you were at the MSU game last November you got a sneak preview of the way the board will be used. They shrink the game video on the screen constantly to cram in more ads on each side. I can't imagine it will be any different with our new board.

Here's an example of the foolishness of our ads. How many times a game do we see the Neptune Aviation ads on the ribbon boards? How many fans in the stadium are going to see that ad and grab their cell phones to order up a flame retardant drop for their personal use? (Yes, I realize they have a charter service but that's not what the ad shows.)

I think the two smaller video boards on either side of the main screen are for constant ads. I'm sure the bigger one will be used at times as well, but likely during timeouts and not during replays. Could be wrong though

The two smaller boards will replace billboards that were always rotating the same three ads, so it doesn't really change either way other than you'll see multi media content from more advertisers.

The fact that the antiquated scoreboard and video screen are BOTH being replaced is beyond awesome. It's going to take the Jimmy Johns texting race to the next level. And flex cam is going to be insane. I hear the Monte videos may even be funny now!
