No, I don't really think so, dude.

First off, granted, he was a decent Head Coach for the Griz. For a little while. But that was before Wyoming came calling and when that happened Joe Glenn said to hell with the Griz, lost three of four of his final games because he was much too preoccupied with what Wyoming was all about to even care much more for the Griz. It's called "Burning one's bridges." His recruiting for that year?..before he took off?..left the cupboards bare with maybe one or two players even lasting four years, if that. Just a token effort just to make it look good, I guess. Would have been better if he didn't even recruit anyone his last year and leaving it up to the next hire for the Griz. Would have been even better off still if he just said to Wyoming..."come back when I'm thru with this year. Then we'll talk." Like any other honourable person that respects his contract. But no. He was but a typical money grabber and it caught up to him eventually while now he resides in some place in South Dakota. He really f--ked over the Griz. No way, dude.

Besides which, after Joe Glenn lost to the bobcats Glenn stated, verbatim, that no rivalry should have lasted where one team beats the other sixteen games in a row. There ain't no way any Griz would have said that; no way do the Griz lose to the bobcats just to make the bobcats feel good about themselves. You play to win. Plain and simple.

Good post. I've always thought Glenn did what he did in '02 as his way of getting revenge for Donovan's, and thus his, firing in '85. The Bobcat loss was his 'cherry on top.'

Besides, RE wants to keep Delaney, the albatross around the throat of Griz football. Its RE's legacy.

Exactly. Not to mention the scandal surrounding two of their wins last year. I wonder how long that will stay out of the public eye.
What scandal is that?

Let's just say there are those who have called into question the legitimacy of two wins.

I'm not a big fan of recycling... all of my paper, plastic, glass and food scraps go into the same barrel... Ditto for UM coaching hires. :coffee:

My hope of a new coach when Mick retires is to get a coach from somewhere other than the Big Sky conference. We need new blood in this conference badly!
Also, I notice the Griz have a baseball team now, have they always or is this another sport added? Move-up coming in a few short years?

UM has had a baseball team for a while now. The baseball team is a club sport at the university and not an official university sport. I'm not sure if intramural sports are part of the title X requirements...
Baseball was a varsity sport at UM until around 1970. Check out the Hall in the Adams Center.

I would love for us to hire a young coach with great recruiting charisma who has NFL playing experience and has coached up the most productive position group for the Griz over the past few years. Yup, that would be Justin Green.
This.

Dave Dickinson, Craig Oaks, Jonathan Smith, Jared Zebranski.

Personally I do not think a person has to have had head coaching experience to be a head coach. I think the main thing is being a solid leader and surrounding yourself with quality position coaches. I think any of the above would do just that. Each did great things at the QB position and were not your prototypical QB ( Oaks ) aside.

Go for young blood so to speak and let them make there name.

Personally I would take Jonathan out of all of them. However he makes more as a QB (?) at an FBS. But just get get your foot in a head coaching job might offset it. UM would surely be a stepping stone for him.

Maybe super Dave might look at the job as a long time deal?

I just can't see Delaney staying around more than this next year personally. I think it will be his call to pack the desk one last time.

Jonathan Smith is now Chris Peterson's Offensive Coordinator at the University of Washington, making about $500,000 per year. The days of him coaching small-time college football are over.

Since when have facts played any part in most posts on egriz?

I would rather have Alec Baldwin coach the Griz than Beau Baldwin. Beau lets people like Shoota become the face of a "university," while Alec only likes closers.
Eagle envy!

I'm not your dude, guy...

Fair enough argument. Although, it isn't uncommon for a new coach to not accommodate the exiting coach's recruits, especially a coach like Hauck. I still like the idea of bringing in somebody who has already proven he can win a NC here. He is a good coach.

I'd actually like to see Vigen or Christensen.

I really like Justin Green and think has a bright future, but there is no way he is ready for a head D1 job. If anyone gets promoted its Gragg. Although, I would much prefer an outside hire.

I really like Vigen. Young coach who has had a lot of success. He's very good at player development. His offenses at NDSU were flat out dominant and it wasn't because they were the most talented players, it was because he got the most out of those players and had the leadership to get them to buy into that system. Although, he's also a very good recruiter and has connections in the MIdwest, which would open some new ground up for us. He'll be a very good head coach some day. Just hoping if it isn't for us, it isn't another Big Sky team.

But all of this silliness aside, what do you suppose the chances are that Sam A. Blitz would consider being WyomingGrizFan's huckleberry? :geek:
