Is there a downside for VA if after his dalliance with the Ducks he decides to stay in Cheney?
What if the scouts decide that his failure to take the chance at being the man in Eugene indicates that he doesn't think he has what it takes to become the starting QB for the Ducks?
QBs without confidence in their own abilities are frowned upon by the NFL brain-trust, especially those who have two strikes against them already (small-school competition, small in stature).
Even though a lot of their archaic ideas might indicate that they should be known as the "NFL Brain-Rust", they still hold the keys to the castle.

It's not that I don't think he has confidence in his ability, especially at our level, it's that if he doesn't take the Ducks' gig, it may look like he doesn't have confidence in his abilities to handle a season's worth of FBS competition. He's played very well for a couple of games against FBS competition, can he handle a full season? Not that I think he can't, it's just the perception if he doesn't take the gig.
